Stop Twisting In The Wind

Humpday Haiku

November 5, 2025

The winds are blowing.

The last leaf twists, but won’t let go.

Put faith over fear.

Last week I shared how things began showing up and changing when I declared in a morning freestyle prayer that I was ready to turn the corner, ready to get past the feeling of stuck-ness. Ready to be different, for my life to be different. After relinquishing all of my will, the amazing lessons began showing up. Those lessons allowed me to see who I really am. REALLY am.

I wonder if we know how powerful we truly are. Epigenetics tell of the impact our environments have on us, and how trauma can cross generations. Which means there may be some deeply rooted shadow thoughts and behaviors that periodically and repeatedly show up. Those anxious or fearful thoughts are linked to our bias towards negativity. Psychologists have been gracious enough to share that tidbit with us. Okay, enough science. I just wanted you to keep in mind that there are other cryptic components of our lives that exist and can sway our judgment. I think the technical term is gremlins. Those pesky mental, social and emotional gremlins love to pop up when it’s our time to shift. They tell an old story that’s usually camouflaged with a revamped script to get our attention.

Still, when it’s time to move, when we feel a force pulling us (or pushing us if we don’t pivot quickly enough), accept that it’s time to let go and move. The patriarch, Abraham, was told to leave his family and his country. He didn’t receive clarification about what was next or even a destination. But in his obedience he received a supreme blessing. He put faith ahead of everything else. Yes, his gremlins showed up a few times, but he was rooted in his relationship and connection with God.

When properly grounded in who we are, our first mind calls for us to keep moving forward, keep moving higher. Perhaps we don’t know what’s next, where the path will take us, what the key performance indicators are, or the time frame to meet our goals. However, when it’s time to move, let go. I won’t give you “five easy steps for letting go”. This time there’s only one: just do it.

If you’re still needing to have everything in place before you can step out of one space and into another, welcome to the reality of uncertainty. I invite you to anchor yourself in the Lord and begin noticing the reality of the power of the Holy Spirit that is infused in us. That Spirit guides us through our uncertain moments. All we need to do is listen.

We are powerful! We can achieve what has been bubbling up inside. It’s bubbling inside of us/you/me because it has been designed for us/you/me to do. It’s bubbling because the time has come; this new thing is ready.

Is there someone you’re supposed to be helping? Is there a new project that has been pulling at your heart strings? A movement you’ve thought about joining, or starting? Are there some people that need to hear your voice, or need your energy, your experience, your wisdom? Has twisting in the wind has become so exhausting that you’re ready to let go?
