They can’t stop – won’t stop!

Have you had enough of this?

God, we need You now.

Last week’s post was about my neighborhood joining forces. This week‘s landscape is much broader. No matter what your address is, it feels like we all live in Crazy Town. As people see our present challenges continually multiply the question remains: How did we get here? Laissez-faire attitudes about what’s right in front of us? Individualist thinking? Counting on someone else to handle things? Maybe, but the more important question is how do we get out of this?

As much as some of us like to go it alone, we need supernatural help right now to turn things around. We can’t regain any semblance of balance and order on our own, otherwise we would have taken care of at least some of this chaos by now.  Pause, look around and see the consequences that many of the decisions of the past few decades will have on our future for decades to come and across generations. We need to understand that it’s time for a wholesale rethinking of how we should move forward.

Are we there yet? Or do we want to keep riding our nuclear powered “My way is the right way” rocket into the abyss?

Consider the big picture of our interconnection with the divine source of life. We have a Creator who has watched us rationalize moving away from Them. (Point of information for all the folks who refer to God in the masculine form, I think the Creator of the universe cannot be defined by our paltry pronouns. I use third person plural, They and Them to symbolize the immense essence of God.) Imagine a good parent who wants the best for us, witness us making a series of horrific decisions that result in the destruction of what we and They have built. Decisions that defy good judgment. Decisions that do not serve the whole of humanity or the earth that we are to steward. We’re old enough to make proper choices, but Their heart aches to see just how much wisdom is lacking.

They want to help. They have been sustaining operations so everything doesn’t completely collapse and disintegrate. They have been waiting and hoping that we will collectively come to Them in earnest and ask for their help in changing the course of things.

If My People Who Are Called By My Name

It helps if we believe that the Creator of the universe can make a difference and has a better way. That the One who allows us to breathe without you giving it a second thought really does care for us. They can make a difference, but first we have to want to be connected with Them. There are plenty of examples of why people put barriers between themselves and God. Bottom line: God wants to have a personal relationship with each one of us. We’re here to do great things in service to a higher purpose. That comes when we begin operating at a more advanced level of awareness. We should want to walk on a higher path, to live in that way.

Humble Themselves

Sacred scriptures in the Bible explain that God wants to have a relationship with us, but we continually step out of alignment. Those missteps are called sin.

How many of you just rolled your eyes? Yes, sin is choosing to go our own way because we think it’s a great idea. We want to have fun. Or we simply don’t want to follow God’s guidance. Think back to the years as a prideful teenager who knew more than parents did. Remember struggling with something but refusing to ask for help. Things fell apart and didn’t end well.

Who among us was looking forward to living through a moment like this? Hands?  Anyone? Yet here we are – déja vu all over again.

Just as your elders were there to help out then, our Creator is standing by waiting to hear if we all ask.

Pray And Seek My Face

If you aren’t sure how to engage with or reconnect with God, it’s not difficult. God really makes things a lot simpler than many people realize. Just start a conversation with the Lord. They already know our struggles.

Ask God to turn things around. Ask and believe because nothing is too hard for the One who can create an ecosystem and provide everything we need within it. As you move closer to God you will become more discerning. You will begin to see with a different lens.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show up and make abundantly clear that it’s the Holy Spirit you’re experiencing. When you see those synchronicity moments – the coincidences that are designed just for you that happen at just the right time, that’s the Holy Spirit. And those moments are life-affirming, not devastating attacks that disrupt lives. Notice the small miracles popping up rather than expecting grand scale, overnight changes. Pay attention when divisive politicians resign their positions. When silent lawmakers begin to take a stand and challenge wrong headed thinking. When businesses push back on issues that the general public need them to push back on. When government workers say “No more” to extreme and dehumanizing conditions.

Continually pray. Yes, this is not a one-and-done matter of prayer. Ask and keep asking for divine help in redirecting us. Be as persistent as that child who desperately wants to eat cookies before dinner. And understand that others are praying for all of this chaos to end as well. Those collective voices move God’s heart.

You’re working on building a relationship so take the time to get to know your Creator. They are actually a pretty cool friend to have. They accept you as you are. Make no judgment about you (that’s your other friend). They are always there for you. They set you up for the win, even when you can’t see what’s going on behind the scenes. Left you sacred scriptures to read and help you stay grounded in your growth journey. They save you. Provides a sense of peace when the world makes no sense. Made sure you woke up each day of your life. Be thankful over and over for this and more.

Turn From Your Wicked Ways

Now ‘fess up to whatever you did or didn’t do to mess up. Yes, just like in younger years. But it’s not to shame you. God already know what you’re up to. You probably know the Ten Commandment guidelines about murder, thievery, and the plan for engaging in sex. But there’s more. Keep in mind the things that easily fly under our decorum radar. Give grace to others rather than judging them. Let go of all the “isms” that hold you hostage and therefore bind up others.  Unburden yourself and concentrate on moving forward. Own it and decide that you want the higher path of living out your true purpose.

I’m not making this up. It’s a real thing. Check out 2 Chronicles 7:14 and see the process. This is worth coming together for. Actually, that’s something else the Creator would love to see - us coming together.

“…if my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
