Fog may slow you down.
You can hear, but not see much.
Steadily move through.
What’s going on when things don’t go well…over and over?
Have I deviated from my plan? If so, was it for a good reason or a distracted “squirrel” run?
Should I pause here or keep pressing forward? What is showing up when I pause? (There will be some indicators.)
What has my attention? What needs my attention? Have I done everything that I need to do?
Is it me or is it an external entity that needs to change?
Did I miss something? Is there something I’m holding onto too tightly that I need to let go of?
Is fear here? Have I given stress, worry or doubt too much room to play around in my head?
Lesson One: When there are a lot of questions but the answers seem a bit foggy, don’t despair. And don’t stop moving. Maybe slow down a bit to hear whatever you can hear even though you can’t see too far ahead of you. Some sounds are familiar, others will be foreign. Ditch any negative self-talk. That’s not what you want to listen for. It can take you into the “woe zone”. Tilt the scales towards the positive. Listen to what helps you get your bearings.
I had to remember that there is a spirit of power inside of me. The fog wasn’t just in front of my eyes, it was in my mind as well.
Lesson Two: Even with all the questions, see the bigger picture of who you are and what you bring. Don’t disown the good or the power in you. As you move through your fog, keep in mind that you were made for higher purposes. Lean into your gifts and don’t let anyone stop you. Stay centered in who you truly are. Whether you know it or not, some people are simply dazzled by your presence, your insights. Others may not get you. No worries; maybe they’ll catch up later. Maybe.
Like Jonathan Livingston Seagull, soaring higher than others think is possible is exhilarating! Spreading my wings, aiming higher, sometimes crashing but always staying with the goal were the incremental steps I can look back on now and know how all of that brought me to a new level. And while I was moving through the fog like the clouds high above Jonathan, discovering all of who I am, others were also learning along the way. They are watching, hearing, seeing that more is possible. It’s never just about me.
Lots of questions. Your answers will be your answers. Keep moving. The fog will dissipate. Make your way through into the clearing. You’ll find a glorious landscape.

***
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example…Do not neglect the gift that was given to you… Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
1 Timothy 4: 12a, 14-16.
