Don't Miss Your Miracle

It’s a brief whisper.

Pay close attention to it.

Gifts will come to you.

A man recently shared a story with me that was indicative of how fragmented we are within ourselves. He went to an auto service center to have some work done. Although he had one thing in mind, the repairman noticed something additional that needed attention, which he took care of at no extra cost. It only required the gentleman to sit a little while longer.

No, this isn’t about getting something extra done for free at an auto service center. Yes, that could be seen as something miraculous, but stay with me because there’s more to the story.

The gentleman left once the work was completed. As he was driving home he came to a place where traffic had slowed. There was a crowd of people and several flashing lights from police cars. He pulled off the road to get out and see what was happening.

When he approached the crowd, the people in front of him opened up a way for him to come to the front. Complete strangers were politely ushering him forward. Then he saw why. The Buddhist monks were passing by on their Walk For Peace. It was a revered moment when everything stops. All the noise fell away. The silence called to mind the fact that we are all one. We can get this thing right. He took out his phone to snap a photo of this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

NOOOOOOOO!

He didn’t charge his phone. He lost out on getting that shot. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you can say that just being there was enough. Sure, of course it was. But then the title of this post would be something different.

Let’s do a rewind.

Back at the service center, he noticed a phone charging station. The words of one of his acquaintances came to him – “Always charge your phone when you have the chance.” A message to get his attention to something. Whether it was a warning or simply pointing out something he needed to do, it came. He had the chance. The repairman even gave him extra time to get a fuller charge when he added some work tasks. Plenty of time to change his mind and act on that message.

Fast forward to standing on the side of the road and how he got there. His intent was to go home, but on the way there his plan was unexpectedly changed. There was an interruption.

There was enough going on to arrest his attention, which made him leave his “bubble” – his car – and check out what was happening.

As he approached, total strangers opened up the way for him to get out front, welcoming him, greeting him with smiles and compassion.

But when the moment comes to do the thing he wants to do, he realized that his failure to pay attention to that message, that internal experience that was designed for him for that precise moment, was connected to this external experience of a lifetime.

I have no doubt that everyone reading this has had a similar experience at some point in your life.

-Did you hear a message and ignore it?

-Was God trying to redirect you or at least interrupt your journey?

-Did you come out of whatever “bubble” you were in – a mindset, a preference, a traditional way of doing or being that you have held onto?

-Were you suspicious of a guide or someone who you thought couldn’t possibly be an ally?

-Were you halted in an ‘aha’ moment of what transpired and how you missed what you were being set up to have?

Listen.

Pause and take the message in.

Move on it and flow with it.

God can show you amazing things you’ve never seen before.
