In U.S. President, Barack Obama's recent State of the Union Address, he exhorted Americans to become more innovative to re-capture our premiere standing among those making an impact on global change. The very nature of that admonition suggests we have lost something, or that we have given up something. We have moved away from our core competencies, from the best of who we are. We have moved away from ourselves. The laws of science clearly point out that if you move away from one point you are moving towards another. So where are we going? And where are we now?
Moving away from yourself is typically preceded by a belief that there is "something more" or "better" out there. Moving towards the "better" minimizes what you currently have, as if it is surely not enough. Moving away from yourself could also indicate an attempt to avoid making contact with some part of yourself. Are you avoiding because it is different? You feel more comfortable staying away from the very thing that will make you excel. Are you avoiding because it will take you down a very different path?
But your "comfort" level is waning. Our collective "comfort level" is waning. When you are quiet and still, pay attention to what's stirring within. Focus on what is present in you, and you can recognize a phenomenal new vista that wants to emerge. Are you ready to find the “more” that’s inside of you?
