From the spirit comes everything that we are. If our spirit is wounded, we disconnect from others and create our own barriers to protect ourselves. If it is fragmented we don’t see all of who we are or know what we have the capacity to be.

But if it is whole and healthy we are limitless. We see how we are interconnected with others, with our environment and with the global society. When our spirit is whole we are in sync with our tribe, our team, our human community. We accomplish what overwhelms others, what seems to be the impossible. When our spirit is healthy we know who we are and we know where our strength comes from. We are fully aware of our deep spiritual link to God, our Creator.

Lacking this awareness and connectedness, our social fabric unravels. We disregard our ecological and environmental systems. Our political will to work together for the greatest and highest good of the whole disintegrates. And we design technologies that will damage us far beyond what we can possibly know in the “eureka” moment of our new discoveries.

It’s time to stop. Time to be still. Time to pay attention. Time to heal the wounds and restore the separation within ourselves, in our communities, from our environment and across the world. Humbling myself to be able to hear what changes I need to make, to see my wounds and learn what I needed to let go of was no easy task. Left to my own devices, the deep work of changing to be restored was not going to happen. I realized that I needed to bring Christ into my healing process. And I now understand the promise: “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you. I will be found by you and will bring you back from captivity.” (Jeremiah 29:11-14a).

We all need help in this. He’s a simple call away…just standing by.
